This Week (And Beyond) In SCA
Here are this week’s menus at Masterpiece Cuisine.
Keep in mind that today (May 11) marked the start of five-day-a-week lunch and dinner service in the restaurant. It will not always be possible for me to get the Monday newsletter out in time for readers to take advantage of the Monday menus, but I’ll try my best.
On Wednesday, May 13, starting at 10 a.m. in the Delaware Room at Anthem Center, the SCA Lifelong Learning Club invites all residents to attend a very informative presentation on the following subject:
EARLY IN-STAGE HOME CARE
presented by
LEAH KOMISAK
Leah is owner and Co-CEO of Family’s Own Health and Human Services.
For many individuals and families, delaying or avoiding institutional care is an important goal. Having access to compassionate, trained support at home—someone who can help preserve dignity and independence while recognizing early signs of health changes, such as the onset of a stroke—can make a meaningful difference.
As we age, issues related to having support when we need it are of paramount importance, so you won’t want to miss this program.
On Wednesday, May 13, and for two additional performances to follow, Little Shop of Magic casts its spell.
This is the one you've been waiting for! Experience age-old incantations, potions, spirits, and omens with the cast of LITTLE SHOP OF MAGIC! This do-not-miss production features professional and semi-professional dancers, singers and actors in glittering costumes and more than two dozen amazing numbers. Follow our cast as they discover the magical world of shopkeeper Vince McCann and search for his most valuable magic trick! Featuring performances by your favorite singers, including Gail Beckman, George Gingerelli, Christina and Jim Starr, and Don and Linda Walsh, with many more. You'll sing along to favorites such as Do You Believe in Magic, That Magic Touch, and That Old Black Magic. Plus you'll be treated to stunning dance choreography to Santana's Black Magic Woman, Michael Buble's Moondance, Janet Jackson's Black Cat, and Lady Gaga's Abracadabra, to name only a few. See you in the theater!
When Yorktown Grill was preparing to open in the fall of 2022, a dedicated group of 18 SCA residents released a video, set to the iconic “Cheers” theme, in support of the restaurant. With witty original lyrics by George Gingerelli, the video received several thousand viewings when published in my former blog, David’s Anthem Journal.
Inspired by recent public comments in which residents praised the Cheers-like atmosphere at Masterpiece Cuisine, the video was repurposed in support of the current restaurant and was distributed by the Association today in the weekly Anthem Community Chronicles.
If you didn’t get a chance to view our video, the product of many months of hard work, here it is. See how many of your friends and neighbors you can recognize:

David, Thanks for your support of MC. That is what is most important to me, given our email exchanges. Please continue!
Of course, there is more than one way to promote MC and it’s Vista Lounge. I found the work of the resident I mentioned. With your indulgence try this:

Naturally music and lyrics are important, as your video demonstrates. Here is this residents most recent work which might tug at your heart stings and illustrates my point.
